How to get a full driving licence
The Driving Standards Agency Driving test is taken in 2 parts: Theory Test
▪ MULTIPLE CHOICE QUESTIONS 50 questions asked within 57 minutes shown on a touch screen with a number of possible answers to choose from.
The pass mark is 43 correct answers from the 50 questions.
▪ HAZARD PERCEPTION TEST You will be shown 14 video clips with 15 developing hazards. For each hazard spotted you will be awarded points. The marks are given based on how well you notice the hazard in a certain time frame scoring from a maximum of 5 down to zero in each clip with one clip containing two hazards. If you click the same hazard twice you get the highest score for that clip. The pass mark is 44 marks from a possible 75.
▪ Both of which must be passed at the same time Please Note:
The DSA can provide the Theory test in various (voice over) languages and a extended test for people with learning difficulties (this must be confirmed by a doctor or your driving instructor to qualify for the extended test). This can all be selected as an option at time of booking.
There is no substitute for revision and discussing any concerns you have about the theory with your instructor which is what he/she is there for to help you understand and more importantly help you to relate the theory to everyday practical driving.
You can attempt the theory test at any time but this MUST BE passed before you can book your driving test.
